We need boundaries, it’s only human. I mean, most people live by a set of principles and guidelines, even government! So why should we act as though we are better than that? Why should we say, “I’m better than that, and can prove that rules and boundaries are irrelevant to me and my personal life.” Okay, well I’m here to tell you that in life we thrive on boundaries.
In our most basic relationships; mother/daughter, Father/son, brother/sister, and the list goes on. There are things that are expected and roles that each party takes because there are such said boundaries.
I am at a point where I am in dire need to clarify some of the relationships I hold. Sure, we’re friends, sure we like spending time together, sure I may straddle you from time to time, but what does that mean?!? I can’t keep doing this. There has to be a solid aspect in my life; my job is in complete uncertainty, school is taking their time to get back to me on whether or not I get accepted, and my personal life is like Kurt Vonnegut’s, Slaughter House Five; ALL OVER THE PLACE.
I might not be the Human Resources Department of my job, but I am the HR Department of my personal life. In all honesty I know the probable answers that I might get, but I need to make sure that I covered myself, and that I get what I want and need to be happy.
