There is nothing like doing what you makes you happy, no substitute. I really love running, long distances is what I really love (when I train accordingly I can run eight miles and feel like I just had a good workout). I want to give a shout out to running. There is nothing like running; that burning in your calves, the way you feel your knees get higher as you sprint, the awesome sweat that engulfs your being after you finished is incredible. I love it. It helps me clear my mind, make any problem soon turn into an opportunity, it is my salvation from the everyday. This isn’t to say that running hasn’t caused me any pain, it has. I have suffered stress fractures and shin splints, I wear special little orthopedics made by my friend and athletic trainer who also taught me how to tape my foot so I don’t cause anymore harm. But what good love doesn’t have a couple of bumps? I know that running long distance wont give me Kate Upton’s figure, but it does give me a happiness that reminds me that I only need me to be happy.
So thank you. Thanks to the road for always making yourself available to me. To my running shoes; for staying on and never deciding to quit on my before I finished (running on one or no shoes would be awkward…) and last but not least for my legs, for still letting me go for those runs even when you have had an eight hour work day standing.
